Press Release Body =
RG Stone and Super Speciality Hospital, India \'s only chain of Super Speciality hospitals for Urology at Model Town, Ludhiana, will conduct a Free Checkup Camp for patients of Kidney Stones from 4th April 2007 to 10th April 2007 between 10 am & 4 pm. A team of doctors headed by Dr. Anand Sehgal, M.Ch. (Urology) and Chief Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Urologist at RG Hospital will conduct the Free Checkup. RG Hospital will provide Kidney Stone Treatment without Surgery to patients by SIEMENS LITHOTRIPSY. The SIEMENS LITHOTRIPSY is a highly advanced non-invasive procedure done with the help of the 4th generation \"SIEMENS LITHOTRIPTOR\" with Ultrasound attachment that uses highly focused electro-magnetic waves projected from outside the body to crush kidney stones anywhere in the urinary system.
For certain cases where Lithotripsy is not recommended, such as patients with very large or difficult to reach stones, the minimally invasive Holmium Laser Ureteroscopy using the state-of-the-art 100 Watt Holmium Laser, offers an excellent, very low risk alternative. RG Hospital possesses highly advanced and state-of-the-art equipment and trained medical staff for complete management, including consultation, diagnosis, treatment and post-op procedures, of all stone problems under a single roof. In the duration of the Free Checkup Camp, RG Hospital is also offering several discounts on various Test, Procedures and Surgeries including a 40% Discount on all Procedure Charges.
The SIEMENS LITHOTRIPSY system comprises of three high-quality components; the LITHOSTAR Modularis featuring the proven Shock Wave System-C (SWSC), offering accuracy & efficacy in stone disintegration, the SIREMOBIL Iso-C C-arm offers industry-leading image quality & unique isocentric movement and the unique MODULARIS Uro table which is a transportable, eight-way moving, motor-driven urology table. The SIEMENS LITHOTRIPSY system also possesses Superior Imaging Quality that leads to successful diagnosis and risk free treatment. The system\'s exceptional fluoroscopy, digital radiography and flicker-free monitors allow you to visualize and document fine stone detail in the urinary tract. It also has a unique online Ultrasound attachment to localize Radiolucent stones which are not seen on regular X-ray fluoroscopy. Also it helps in reducing the radiation to the patient and treating surgeons.
The minimally invasive Holmium Laser Ureteroscopy, using the state-of-the-art 100 Watt Holmium Laser, is performed with a small, fiberoptic instrument the Ureteroscope, which is passed into the ureter. Large stones are fragmented using Holmium Laser. Laser fragments stone into sand like particles, which are then flushed out through the natural urinary passage. As the Holmium Laser can fragment stones of all compositions and precision, it is the most effective laser for the treatment of ureteric stones. Patients are generally admitted on the same day of treatment and are discharged next day, which results in only 24 hours of hospitalization. The advantages of Holmium Laser URS over conventional invasive procedures are Short operating period, Stone fragmentation into very fine particles, no risk of injury to the ureter, Bloodless surgery and no need for reentry with endoscopes for retrieval of fragments thus minimizing risk for possible ureteric strictures.
Kidney stones, or renal calculi, are solid concretions or crystal aggregations of dissolved minerals in urine; calculi typically form inside the kidneys or ureters. They can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as grapefruit. If stones grow to sufficient size and move out of the kidney they can cause obstruction of the ureter. Kidney stones are usually undetected during formation. As the stone moves into the urinary tract they are often accompanied by the symptoms like Renal colic, Frequent or slow urination, Burning Micturition, Blood in the urine, Fever, nausea or vomiting.
About 5 % of all women and 10 % of men have a kidney stone once in a life time. Kidney stones usually appear in people between the ages of 20 - 45, and occasionally develop in children. After the age of 50, the incidence rate declines. When the urine becomes too concentrated with impurities, small crystals may form and develop into stones. Calcium oxalate stones are most common. They often develop due to insufficient fluid intake. Other types of stones include calcium phosphate, struvite, uric acid and cystine stones. The most common causes of calculi are dehydration and poor nutrition. Certain medications such as antacids and protein supplements have also been linked to calculi formation. Cystine stones are linked to heredity and although rare, have been seen in children.
